Where are the posts?

Sorry I haven’t been posting much.  A new semester of classes has started and until I get the workload under hand, I haven’t been writing much.

But to give you an update, the first two chapters are complete.  However, I may chuck them altogether, as I don’t know if I want/need to give all the back story.  I may just jump into the deployment.

As for the text, the book is about 60% done.  I’m also asking many of the people in it, what they want their names to be as I will not be using real names in the book.

SO, don’t give up on me, I’m still chugging away!

Prolog, uh, I mean Preface, uh I mean Foreword

Geeze, I didn’t realize that there were such sutblities to writing a book.

A Prolog, is different than a preface, which is different than a foreword.

So, I have my dedication, foreword and the first two chapters done of the book.

Here are my problems so far…

My writing style would dicate that the chapters of this book are short, but lots of them.  Does anyone know if that is OK for a new writer?

Secondly, I’m having lots of issues trying to keep the beginning of the book really interesting.  There seems to be so much information that I need to give up front that I’m having a hard time making it interesting.  We’ll see how it goes, but I’m open to suggestions.

Maybe I’ll have to start with the end, then do one of those ‘time-shift’ devices.  8>)

What it all about? (no “Alphie” jokes here)

So, after a tour of war in Iraq, Afghanistan and time in both countries as a contractor also, I’m ready to write my book. It’s not the typical war log that has been done to death.  This book will look at the funny and humorous side of war.  It will also recount the progress that is being made in both countries.  The purpose of the book is to show another side of how combat operations affect the Soldiers, the locals, and people from all over the world.  I can guarantee that it will open your eyes to a side of conflict that you never imaged.  I plan to include a plethora of photos that I managed to take during my time over there as well.

Postings here will be minimal, but subscribe and stay abreast of the process, the goals, the accomplishments, the setbacks, and even the failures.

As I always say, “War can certainly be hell – but it can also be funny as hell.”

And so it begins!

Welcome to my blog. This blog will be a record of my experiences writing my first book about my experiences in war. Today I will begin the process of starting my 50,000 word manuscript. While the content of the book will not be here, it is a place for me to share my thoughts, questions, lessons learned, and even errors with the blogosphere. This blog is a stream of consceince format and will be complete with errors and misspellings I’m sure.
So, if you ever want to write a book (or if you have written one and want to share your experiences, subscribe to this blog and check it out! (My next post will describe the book.)
